Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar's school admission will be celebrated on 7th November as 'Student Day' in schools and colleges of the state. The school education and sports department has drawn the circular in this regard.

Under the 'Student Day' program all the schools have been instructed to do various activities based on the life of Baba Saheb, including essay, eloquence and poetry. Dr. Ambedkar's school days should be called in a sense in the educational revolution and the era of era. He became proficient in his schooling and also saved millions of dalits and devotees. Because of their constitution, the human values of freedom, equality, brotherhood and justice in the Indian society have been successful. That is why admission day school is an important event, said the circular.

On 7th November 1900 Babasaheb took admission in Pratap Singh High School, Rajwada Chowk, Satara. At that time their name was Bhiya. The school's registrar is still signed by the school administration, which has been signed by the school authorities.

भारतरत्न डॉ. बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर यांच्या शाळाप्रवेशाचा ७ नोव्हेंबर हा दिवस राज्यातील शाळा व महाविद्यालयांमध्ये ‘विद्यार्थी दिवस’ म्हणून साजरा केला जाणार आहे. शालेय शिक्षण व क्रीडा विभागाने या संदर्भातील परिपत्रक काढले आहे.

‘विद्यार्थी दिवस’ उपक्रमाअंतर्गत सर्व शाळांमध्ये बाबासाहेबांच्या जीवनावर आधारित विविध पैलूंवर निबंध, वक्तृत्व स्पर्धा आणि काव्यवाचन आदी उपक्रम आयोजित करण्याच्या सूचना देण्यात आल्या आहेत. डॉ. आंबेडकर यांचा शाळाप्रवेश दिवस एका अर्थाने शैक्षणिक क्रांतीची आणि युगांतराची चाहूल म्हटली पाहिजे. त्यांच्या शाळाप्रवेशाने ते स्वतः प्रज्ञावंत झालेच आणि कोट्यवधी दलितांचे-वंचितांचे उद्धारकर्तेही झाले. त्यांच्या संविधानामुळे भारतीय समाजात स्वातंत्र्य, समता, बंधुता आणि न्याय ही मानवी मूल्ये रूजू शकली. त्यामुळेच त्यांच्या शाळा प्रवेशाचा दिवस ही महत्त्वाची घटना आहे, असे परिपत्रकात म्हटले आहे.

७ नोव्हेंबर १९०० या दिवशी बाबासाहेबांनी प्रतापसिंग हायस्कूल, राजवाडा चौक, सातारा येथील शाळेत प्रवेश घेतला. त्यावेळी त्यांचे नाव भिवा होते. या शाळेच्या रजिस्टरला ‘१९१४’ या क्रमांकासमोर आजही त्यांची स्वाक्षरी असून, हा ऐतिहासिक दस्तावेज शाळा प्रशासनाने जपून ठेवला आहे.
